HANDLE WITH CARE (Portugal)

by Débora Mendes

Stop-motion often builds unsustainable worlds. “Handle with Care” is a stop-motion short set between a laboratory and a forest. It let us wonder whether it will be possible to develop materials that don’t harm human health and that are designed to decompose.

Hélène, 40 years old, comes to visit her aging mother in the french countryside. When she knocks on the door, there’s no answer. She enters the house, worried. No sign of her mother. Hélène is certain of it: something otherworldly is happening to this place.

SOMEBODY ASK US (Czech Republic)

Our children face ever greater threats as the climate crisis accelerates. It’s their future, so why aren’t we talking to them about it?

RANG-TAN (Austria / Portugal)

by Simon Griesser, Philipp Comarella

The story of a little girl and her orangutan friend, forced from her forest home, as Indonesian rainforests are destroyed to grow field upon field of dirty palm oil used to make the everyday products we use. Narrated by Emma Thompson.

JELLY FISH (Portugal)

by Marlowe Buddy

The young director received a ‘brief’ target (from his parents) to create an animation that evokes adoration, worry and happiness/relief in the audience, using only music for audio. This film is the result!
